Music at St Michael’s
The Music Department at Saint Michael’s-on-the-Heights provides a reverent music liturgy grounded in the 1982 Episcopal Hymnal containing superb sacred music ranging from early plain chant to soaring hymns written by celebrated composers including Giovanni Palestrina, Johann Sebastian Bach, Lowell Mason, and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Based in the wisdom of both the Old and New Testaments,
The hymns sung at Saint Michael’s are spiritually inspiring and singable by the congregation.
Michael Celularo Jr., Music Director and Organist
Michael Celularo’s musical journey began in 1997- his first year as a chorister in the choir of
All Saints, Worcester. Over the next ten years he combined choir and piano lessons with Kallin Johnson, Mark Manuel and Christopher Dwyer to continue bolstering his skills. In 2006 he was awarded the AGO (American Guild of Organists) scholarship for organ and began studying with Donald Meineke and in 2009 was hired as the assistant organist for the renowned music program at All Saints.
He has been fortunate to be able to accompany the All Saints Choir for hundreds of services and several tours, playing in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Canada. Closer to home, He has played at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C., the Hook organ at Mechanics Hall and the restored theatre organ at the Hanover Theatre-both in Worcester, MA. He is delighted to add the Cassavant organ at Saint Michael’s to his list.
